Linking Note
"By arrangement with the School of Slavonic Studies of the University of London, the management and publication of the 'Slavonic and East European Review' was taken over in 1941 by the above Committee of American Scholars, representing various learned societies and groups, with the express understanding: (1) that the British founders could resume publication at the beginning of any calendar year, and (2) that upon such action the American Editorial Committee would continue the magazine in this country as an independent American publication. The British founders thus resumed publication in January, 1945. With the current issue (XXXII, 1944, no. 61-4) the so-called American series of the 'Slavonic and East European Review' therefore terminates, the be replaced immediately by an independent American quarterly under the same editorial direction and entitled 'The American Slavic and East European Review'."--Vol. 3, part 4 (December 1944) colophon.
