The American series came to an end in September 1942 after only seven issues, and publication of the original [London] series ... did not resume until 1944. This series was superseded [after no. 15] in 1946 by a new series, though for [three] issues a double system of numbering was maintaines [ie New ser. 1-3 = 1st ser. 16-18]"--Foreword to Index to Tempo.
