Medical Serials Print Preservation Program
This program was was discontinued at the end of 2021. Those institutions that committed titles to the program were released from any commitments to MedPrint titles. Libraries removed MedPrint retention commitment notes for these titles from their local holdings records. The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) were committed to preserving print copies of 250 Abridged Index MedicusĀ® and PubMed CentralĀ® serial titles. For each serial title 12 medical libraries participated in DOCLINE ( an automated interlibrary loan (ILL) request routing and referral system with 3,200 U.S., Canadian, and Mexican participating libraries). The committment was to retain titles until 2036. DOCLINE recorded the libraries commitments to titles. The National Library of Medicine is committed to holding the 13th copy. This was a voluntary national cooperative program. Funding was not be provided to help libraries maintain or store the titles they commited to retain.
